Our wedding coordinator will work with you personally to plan your ceremony from concept to completion, insuring that your event will fulfill all of your dreams.

Every aspect of our property is centered around our theme of “Romance in Nature”. From the spectacularly designed rooms to the gourmet fare and service at the Sunspot Bar and Grill, we hope that every couple walks away from our property with an unforgettable experience.

Our adults only policy, gay/lesbian friendly environment and commitment to romance between any and all human beings make Makanda by the Sea an ideal destination for a commitment ceremony. In additional to the natural beauty, personal service and expertise of our trained staff, all same sex ceremonies performed here at Makanda by the Sea are automatically registered with the International Commitment Ceremony Registry. You will also receive from the ICCR a certificate of union upon registration of your commitment.

Commitment ceremonies here at Makanda by the Sea are officiated by a Costa Rican who actively encourages the celebration of gay and lesbian unions in the area. Although we have a predesigned ceremony which can be used, we encourage all couples to work with our officiant to design an event unique to your personalities. Hotel Makanda by the Sea is honored to host commitment ceremonies and hopes to have the opportunity to host your celebration of love.
